PURPOSES OF CLOTHING.
Things people wear to cover their body are clothing. Attire is the other name for defining clothing and it is fiber and textile worn on the body. Clothing is mainly meant for humans and different human cultures wear different types of clothing. One’s body type, gender, social and other environmental considerations are what determine the amount and type of clothing worn.
Clothing helps in protecting the body against severe weather conditions by covering the body. They also assist us while hiking and cooking activities. The most common types of physical clothing materials include; fabric, denim, leather and fur.
The many kinds of clothing has been brought about by the fact that clothing options have increased tremendously, throughout the years. Every event requires different clothing options as well as choices, depending on culture and beliefs.
Clothing customs are different depending on your settings, who you are and what you plan to do. Professional attire needs to be formal, but dress for the trip, exercise wear, beachwear and safety apparel must not be. Religious and cultural factors determine one’s choice of attire.
The other purpose of clothing is to make you feel more beautiful and to interact with others. Other reasons as to why people wear clothes include; comfort and protection, physical, physiological and social reasons. Clothes also helps you to identify with people by expressing your personality and improves your self-esteem.
Each person has their basic human needs. Meeting these needs is what gives contentment and enjoyment in life. Clothing is one of the fundamental human needs. You get to know yourself and others better by understanding more about clothing. Although apparel is involved, it is also an exciting part of every person’s life as it tells us more about them.
Clothing prevents us from the effects of harsh climatic conditions like the rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat by covering our body. We can easily get injured at work or during in sports and that why clothing is essential. Clothing makes us comfortable, absorbs sweat, prevents chills, and acts as a shield between your body and accidental burns and coarse surfaces. Putting on the right clothes, can insulate your body against unusually high or low temperatures.
People residing in high temperatures, keep themselves warm by wearing clothing with fur materials. These people avoid cold, because the hair can trap warmth from their bodies and it creates an insulator of warmth. People living in sweltering climate, such as desert nomads keep the harmful hot away, by covering up with long flowing robes and head scarfs. They wear light clothes to cools them.
Some clothing like bulletproof vests are worn for accidents prevention. For safety purposes, fire-fighters, police officers, and road workers wear particular clothes.
